Sinusitis is the inflammation / infection of 1 or more paranasal sinuses and occurs when there is obstruction of the normal sinus drainage mechanism.
Sinusitis is traditionally subdivided into Acute, Subacute and Chronic sinusitis. These may be diseases are due to the obstruction of the drainage of
the sinuses that result in a reduced ability of the sinuses to drain fluid out effectively leading to infection.
The commonest symptoms of sinusitis includes nasal congestion (blocked nose), purulent (yellowish-green) nasal drainage, facial congestion and facial
pain with headache.
